Obama wrote this glowing eulogy because Dole was part of the "club" — the group of rich, powerful, and influential– and where 99.9% of us don’t belong.

The truth is that people in the elite – whether they are diametrically opposed or not – have more in common with each other than they do with you or me. And, to people like Obama, those in the elite matter and others don't – end of story. Dole endorsed Trump in both 2016 and 2020. How can Obama say that Dole merely had a "difference on policy" or that Dole "put country over party"? There is no way Obama truly believes this. And, ironically, most normal people see right through this kind of gaslighting. The fact that Obama, Biden, the Clintons, and others who have nothing but great things to say about Dole now that he’s dead, this is all evidence that whether you matter is determined more by what circles you run in rather than what you believe or do. The elite matter, and the rest of us — those who are dying in wars, pandemic, and diseases of despair–don't matter one bit.

This display of deference every time someone in the elite dies is exactly why the rich are richer than ever, the powerful are never held accountable, and the rest of us are left with the scraps. The cold reality is that those in power now will never ever do anything to change this “slap on the back” nonsense. Instead, they will always only do what's best for each other and themselves.

Now, I'm sure this post will be deleted off of Obama’s page, or panned widely (if read at all), but that's only because I don't run in their circles or play buddy-buddy with the elite who I vehemently disagree with. Dole does not deserve my respect, and Obama — even though some will call this eulogy graceful– does not deserve my acclaim either. This statement was written to make Obama — and the fellow elite–look good. But it's actually shameful stuff.
